Hauling horses to many different arenas, events, and settings help make an all-around better horse. Horses that never leave home are comfortable in the home setting but often uncomfortable in places that they haven’t been before. Through going to many different places horses will become comfortable in all kinds of settings. This is important because if a horse is focused on you instead of on all the surroundings it will make for a better ride. Personally once a horse knows how to stand tied I think it is time to start hauling them. This creates less stress when they become older and are asked to perform away from home. Also horses for beginning riders should be used to going to different places so the horse will have confidence in the new situation and the rider does not have to calm or give the horse confidence.
